Why We Don’t Use Lanolin

You might notice we don’t include lanolin — and there’s a good reason.

Lanolin (also known as wool wax) is a substance secreted by the sebaceous glands of sheep to waterproof their wool. It’s commonly used in conventional lip balms and even in industrial products like rust preventatives, shoe polish, and marine coatings.

While some believe lanolin is cruelty-free, most commercial lanolin is actually a byproduct of the meat industry, and it’s often contaminated with pesticides and insecticides used on wool.

We choose to skip it in favor of clean, vegan, plant-based moisturizers that leave your lips soft, smooth, and completely guilt-free.
