What makes handmade soap different from store-bought soap?
Commercial soaps are often detergent bars stripped of glycerin and loaded with synthetic ingredients. Handmade soap retains naturally occurring glycerin, which moisturizes your skin. Our soaps are crafted in small batches by Texas artisans using plant-based oils and butters — no harsh chemicals, no mass production.
Why is it called White Rock Soap "Gallery"?
Because we showcase more than just our own products. Our WRSG and Cobalt lines are handmade by us right here in Dallas, but we also believe in supporting fellow artisans across Texas. We curate their best soaps and body care products and sell them alongside ours — in our stores and online. Think of it as a gallery of handcrafted goods: one destination for some of the best soaps, candles, and body care products Texas has to offer.
What ingredients are in your products?
Our WRSG soaps are made with Texas olive oil, palm oil (USDA Organic and Certified Sustainable), coconut oil, castor oil, and avocado oil, colored with natural colors and scented with essential oils. Our Cobalt line uses the same oil recipe with micas and phthalate-free fragrance oils. Our candles are made with American-grown soy wax, coconut oil, beeswax, pure cotton wicks, and paraben- and phthalate-free fragrance oils — completely paraffin-free and hand-poured in Dallas. Our curated soap collection features handmade soaps from top Texas artisans, each with their own ingredient profiles listed on the product page.
Are your products vegan and cruelty-free?
Our WRSG soaps are vegan, made with essential oils and colored with natural colors. Our Cobalt soaps use the same base oil recipe with micas and phthalate-free fragrance oils. Our body care line is 100% vegan. Our candles contain beeswax alongside soy and coconut oil, so they are not vegan. Our curated soap collection includes options from multiple Texas makers — vegan status varies by product and is noted on each product page. None of our products are tested on animals.
What kind of wax do you use in your candles?
We use a blend of American-grown soy wax, coconut oil, and beeswax with pure cotton wicks. Our candles are completely paraffin-free, burn clean, and are hand-poured, cleaned, and labeled by our team in Dallas, TX.
How long does a bar of handmade soap last?
It depends on how you use it. A cold-process soap bar used for full-body washing, hair, and shaving typically lasts 1 to 2 weeks. A bar kept at the sink for hand washing can last several months. The key to making any bar last longer is keeping it dry between uses — use a well-draining soap dish and don't let it sit in water.
